Gillette, Wyoming’s Cassidy Kruse has already jockeyed to the top of the barrel racing money payout earning $9,700 at Cheyenne Frontier Days this year but will have the chance of a lifetime by making her first appearance at the famous Sunday finals of “The Daddy” in her home state. Kruse very recently lost her Dad to cancer. He was a veritable rock in support of her rodeo career always there to help with the road trips and horses, offer advice and be her #1 fan. Cassidy has to believe her father will be with her during a run for the coveted CFD buckle.
Kruse and her horse Ellie allowed us to tag along at the rodeo Saturday when they finished with a total barrel racing time that is just one one-hundredth of a second out of the lead heading into Championship Sunday.
