Rapid City Bullfights

By Charlie Coon, Wrangler Network contributor

Freestyle bullfighting came full circle last weekend with its revitalization in Rapid City, SD where Sutton Rodeo Co. was looking for a way to fill the Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo arena with fans in 1979. Jim Sutton created a new event and credits bullfighting with bringing more people to the ticket windows almost immediately. Fans who came out this year had a lot to “ooh” about with the return of freestyle bouts that in many cases went in favor of the horned competitors.

Veteran Zach Call from Mullen, Nebraska took top honors in Rapid City. We have his work and a chat with Call plus a fair number of wrecks that kept fans on their feet watching fighters get floored.
