Standings Shuffle: 21 Move Up in Top 15

By Matt Naber

Whether they were looking to build a lead before the summer run, trying to leave their mark at the historic Oakdale (Calif.) Saddle Club Rodeo or were seeking big payouts and ProRodeo Tour points at the Clark County Fair & Rodeo in Logandale, Nev., some cowboys saw their efforts pay off during the second week of April.

With so much money on the table and opportunities to win big April 8-15, 21 cowboys saw their positions improve within the Top 15.

Cowboys know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Every dollar counts, and making the Top 15 in the PRCA | RAM World Standings early establishes a solid base and builds a cowboy’s confidence as the season picks up pace.

Nobody knows this better than team roping heeler Jade Corkill. The Nevada cowboy launched 29 places from 45th to 16th in the world standings thanks to winning the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo for $6,438 and placing third in Logandale for $4,172.

His $10,610 jump in the last week has him a mere $766 away from joining his partner Luke Brown in the Top 15.

With the Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-Up running April 19-21, big jumps like Corkill’s are sure to happen again.
