Standings Shuffle: 38 Move Up in Top 15
The first week of August brought the heat in PRCA competition to the tune of $1.78 million in prize money between 33 rodeos across North America. With so much money up for grabs, 38 cowboys saw their position improve within the Top 15.
Veteran and rookie cowboys know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Every dollar counts, and making the Top 15 in the PRCA | RAM World Standings early establishes a solid base and builds a cowboy’s confidence as the season picks up pace.
Nobody knows this better than team roping heeler Cody Cowden, who moved from 23rd to 15th. Cowden moved eight spots this week thanks to winning $7,836 at the Dodge City (Kan.) Roundup Rodeo.
The following cowboys saw their positions in the PRCA World Standings improve from July 31 through Aug. 6.
Six Spots
• Jr. Dees moved from 18th to 12th in team roping heading.
Four Spots
• Cory Petska moved from 13th to ninth in team roping heeling.
• Riley Duvall moved from 14th to 10th in steer wrestling.
• Tanner Brunner moved from 15th to 11th in steer wrestling.
• Allen Boore moved from 19th to 15th in saddle bronc riding.
Three Spots
• Jeff Askey moved from 14th to 11th in bull riding.
• Cole Davison moved from 17th to 14th in team roping heeling.
Two Spots
• Jake Pratt moved from eighth to sixth in tie-down roping.
• Steven Dent moved from ninth to seventh in bareback riding.
• Clay Tryan moved from 10th to eighth in team roping heading.
• Caleb Smidt moved from 11th to ninth in tie-down roping.
• Travis Graves moved from 12th to 10th in team roping heeling.
• Rhen Richard moved from 14th to 12th in tie-down roping.
One Spot
• Kaleb Driggers moved from second to first in team roping heading.
• Junior Nogueira moved from second to first in team roping heeling.
• Clay O’Brien Smith moved from third to second in team roping heading.
• Paul Eaves moved from third to second in team roping heeling.
• Ryder Wright moved from fourth to third in saddle bronc riding.
• Clayton Biglow moved from fifth to fourth in bareback riding.
• Bridger Chambers moved from fifth to fourth in steer wrestling.
• Aaron Tsinigine moved from fifth to fourth in team roping heading.
• Trey Yates moved from fifth to fourth in team roping heeling.
• Cody Snow moved from sixth to fifth in team roping heading.
• Zeke Thurston moved from sixth to fifth in saddle bronc riding.
• Trevor Brazile moved from sixth to fifth in steer roping.
• Will Lummus moved from seventh to sixth in steer wrestling.
• Chris Glover moved from seventh to sixth in steer roping.
• Chase Dougherty moved from 10th to ninth in bull riding.
• Cody Lee moved from 11th to 10th in steer roping.
• Ty Breuer moved from 12th to 11th in bareback riding.
• Tyler Waguespack moved from 13th to 12th in steer wrestling.

• Chad Masters moved from 14th to 13th in team roping heading.
• Wyatt Denny moved from 15th to 14th in bareback riding.
• Tyler Bingham moved from 15th to 14th in bull riding.
• Cory Kidd V moved from 16th to 15th in team roping heading.
• Marty Yates moved from 16th to 15th in tie-down roping.
Cowboys on the bubble for a spot in the Top 15 can find themselves a few dollars short of qualifying for the Wrangler NFR. The following cowboy climbed the standings to No. 16.
• Steer wrestler Cameron Morman moved from 17th to 16th and is $2,354 away from breaking into the Top 15.
• Saddle bronc rider Taos Muncy moved from 17th to 16th and is $1,923 away from breaking into the Top 15.
• Bull rider Elliot Jacoby moved from 17th to 16th and is $7,831 away from breaking into the Top 15.
With multiple high-dollar rodeos scheduled this week, such as the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour stops at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Ore., the Lea County Fair & PRCA Rodeo in Lovington, N.M., and the Sikeston (Mo.) Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, the outcomes of these rodeos and others are sure to impact the world standings and possibly give a hint at who will qualify for the 2018 Wrangler NFR.
