Standings Shuffle: 21 Cowboys Move up in Top 15

Cowboys were seeing green as luck and skill combined for big payouts during St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Twenty-one cowboys moved up within the Top 15 by competing at eight ProRodeos worth a collective $322,957 last week across the U.S.

Veteran and rookie cowboys know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Every dollar counts, and making the Top 15 early establishes a solid base and builds a cowboy’s confidence as the season picks up pace.

In an unusual turn of events, although money was won in all ProRodeo events last week, there was no change within the Top 15 for tie-down roping but five of the Top 15 bull riders moved up.

The following cowboys saw their position in the PRCA World Standings improve from March 12-19.

Eight Spots

• Tanner Aus moved from 19th to 11th in bareback riding.

Six Spots

• Will Woodfin moved from 20th to 14th in team roping heeling.
• Ryder Wright moved from 21st to 15th in saddle bronc riding.

Three Spots

• Tony Reina moved from 11th to eighth in steer roping.
• Blade Elliott moved from 15th to 12th in bareback riding.
• Chase Dougherty moved from 15th to 12th in bull riding.

Two Spots

• Bradley Massey moved from 11th to ninth in team roping heeling.
• John Alley moved from 12th to 10th in team roping heading.
• Clark Adcock moved from 12th to 10th in team roping heeling.
• Chad Mathis moved from 17th to 15th in steer roping.
• Jake Orman moved from 16th to 14th in team roping heading.

One Spot

• Mason Clements moved from third to second in bareback riding.
• Tyler Waguespack moved from third to second in steer wrestling.
• Brody Cress moved from third to second in saddle bronc riding.
• Tyler Pearson moved from fifth to fourth in steer wrestling.
• Dustin Boquet moved from fifth to fourth in bull riding.
• Clayton Sellars moved from seventh to sixth in bull riding.
• Tristan Mize moved from ninth to eighth in bull riding.
• Travis Dorman moved from 10th to ninth in team roping heading.
• Eli Vastbinder moved from 14th to 13th in bull riding.

Cowboys on the bubble for a spot in the Top 15 can find themselves just a few dollars short of making a WNFR qualification. Last week, just one cowboy climbed the standings to No. 16. Bull rider Koby Radley moved from 19th to 16th and is $722 away from breaking into the Top 15.

With Rodeo Austin (Texas) concluding Saturday and 10 other ProRodeo events scheduled this week, the outcomes of these rodeos are sure to impact the world standings.
