Standings Shuffle: 16 Move Up in Top 15

Eight rodeos worth a collective $479,744 this week brought 16 cowboys up within the Top 15 of the RAM PRCA World Standings.

Veteran and rookie cowboys know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Every dollar counts, and making the Top 15 early establishes a solid base and builds a cowboy’s confidence as the season picks up pace.

The following cowboys saw their position in the RAM PRCA World Standings improve from April 30 to May 7.

Three Spots

Vin Fisher Jr. moved from 14th to 11th in steer roping.
Chet Herren moved from 15th to 12th in steer roping.
Caleb Smidt moved from 18th to 15th in tie-down roping.

Two Spots

Cody Snow moved from fourth to second in team roping heading.
Wesley Thorp moved from fifth to third in team roping heeling.
Tilden Hooper moved from eighth to sixth in bareback riding.
Kory Koontz moved from 11th to ninth in team roping heeling.
Tanner Brunner moved from 13th to 11th in steer wrestling.
Matt Reeves moved from 14th to 12th in steer wrestling.

One Spot

Tristan Mize moved from ninth to eighth in bull riding.
Jarrett Blessing moved from 10th to ninth in steer roping.
Chase Dougherty moved from 11th to 10th in bull riding.
Jordan Ketscher moved from 13th to 12th in tie-down roping.
Koby Radley moved from 13th to 12th in bull riding.
Ty Breuer moved from 15th to 14th in bareback riding.
Rhen Richard moved from 15th to 14th in tie-down roping.

Cowboys on the bubble for a spot in the Top 15 can find themselves a few dollars short of qualifying for the Wrangler NFR. The following cowboys climbed the standings to No. 16:

• Team roping heeler Buddy Hawkins II moved from 18th to 16th and is $200 away from breaking into the Top 15.
• Steer roper Jim Locke moved from 18th to 16th and is $393 away from breaking into the Top 15.
• Saddle bronc rider Bradley Harter moved from 17th to 16th and is $862 away from breaking into the Top 15.

With nine PRCA rodeos scheduled across the U.S. and Canada between now and May 14, the outcomes of these rodeos are sure to impact the world standings.
