2017 Calgary Stampede Parade Hits the Streets of Calgary
Calgary – On Friday, July 7, the Calgary Stampede Parade once again hits the streets of Calgary. For the last 105 years, the Calgary Stampede Parade has been the official kickoff to The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!
“The Calgary Stampede Parade Committee is excited to kick off the 105th Calgary Stampede Parade, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canada,” says Michael Wetherup, chair of the Calgary Stampede Parade Committee. “We have put together a fantastic line up of entries that showcase the rich diversity of our city, province, and country.”
The Calgary Stampede Parade will be led this year by seven very special Parade Marshals, the seven chiefs of the Treaty 7 Nations. The Treaty 7 Nations are comprised of three Blackfoot Confederacy Nations three Stoney Nakoda Nations and the Tsuut’ina Nation, whose territories are in southern Alberta. The 2017 Parade Marshals are:

This year’s Calgary Stampede Parade features a colourful and exciting line up of 113 entries, including 12 bands, 37 floats, and over 700 horses. Highlights of this year’s Calgary Stampede Parade include: the Budweiser Cyldesdales; the Royal Tyrrell Museum float, which features a larger-than-life model of a ceratopsian dinosaur and the Shetland Jarl Squad, a group from the Shetland Islands, Scotland that will be dressed in authentic, handmade Viking suits and armour.
We encourage spectators to cast their vote for the soft rock 97.7 Fan Favourite. While watching the Calgary Stampede Parade, text the entry number to 12312. Each text is an entry to win a Stampede Experience Prize package. The Stampede Experience Prize package includes rodeo tickets, tickets to Brooks and Dunn, Alabama, and Jonny Reid, and a pair of Alberta Boots. The winning entry also gets a trophy from soft rock 97.7.
The Calgary Stampede Parade is organized by a team of passionate volunteers who make up the Calgary Stampede Parade Committee. The Calgary Stampede Parade begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, starting at the intersection of 9th Avenue and 1st Street S.E.
