2018 Calgary Stampede Canvas Auction is just One Month Away!

Calgary – With the retirement of ‘King’ Kelly Sutherland, who will earn the highest bid in 2018? The countdown is now underway for the annual Calgary Stampede Canvas Auction, presented by GMC. Traditionally seen as a unique economic indicator for our community, the auction will take place just one month from today on Thursday, March 22.

In a true auction format, chuckwagon drivers will take the stage one-by-one in the Stampede’s Boyce Theatre. The highest bidders secure the opportunity to pair with the driver of their choice, advertise on his wagon canvas during the 10 days of the Calgary Stampede and enjoy one-of-a-kind hosting experiences in the heart of the action – the chuckwagon barn area.

The proceeds of the auction support the drivers in caring for their horses, not just during the Calgary Stampede, but throughout the racing season. In total, 36 drivers will take to the Stampede track for 10 days of heart-pounding action in July. They will be watched by more than 175,000 live, cheering fans in the stands, as well as millions of television viewers across Canada.

The 2018 Calgary Stampede Canvas Auction, presented by GMC, takes place at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 22 in the Boyce Theatre, Stampede Park. More information on the auction can be found at: http://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede/shows/gmc-rangeland-derby/canvas-auction
