Reno Rodeo Day Seven Results

RENO, Nev. – Coors Night is a good night to be thirsty at the Reno Rodeo. Many of the audience members were clutching a cold one as they took in the action from the stands.

It was a competitive line-up, with lots of world champions taking the arena tonight in hopes of reliving their former rodeo glory. 2015 world title-holder Steven Peebles of Salinas, Calif. snagged the top spot of the night with an 82 on Big Bend Rodeo’s James Bond.

Steer wrestler Kyle Irwin of Robertsdale, Ala. stunned the crowd as he took down his steer in just 3.9 seconds. Dirk Tavenner of Rigby, Idaho snagged the next best score with a 5.3, giving him the best combined score of 9.6.

Lots of calves broke free before the 6 seconds in tie-down roping, but it was Sterling Smith who took the win with a 10.2.

They saved the best score for last in bull riding. Jeff Askey of Athens, Tex. had the crowd going wild when he scored an impressive 88.5 on Rosser Rodeo’s Hash Tag, snagging the top spot from Dustin Boquet of Bourg, La. who ended up taking second with an 87.
