A Message from our Chairman and CEO, Jim Haworth

The 2014 PBR Built Ford Tough Series is winding down and it is hard to believe we are less than three weeks away from the Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas.

The PBR has always been known for having some of the most dedicated, passionate fans in all of professional sports and 2014 has proven to be no different.

It has been a fantastic year for the PBR as we continue to see tremendous growth in all areas of our sport, especially in terms of the popularity of professional bull riding all across the United States.

Just this past weekend alone, nearly 1.8 million people watched our national CBS broadcast of the Kawasaki Strong Battle at the Bay from Oakland, California. Our broadcasts continue to boast strong viewership, as we are up 9 percent overall this year on CBS.

We at the PBR remain excited about building upon our partnership with CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network. The new long-term agreement that we signed earlier this year is going to help us continue to bring the PBR to homes across the United States.

Our continuous exposure on national television has also translated to growth on our digital and social media platforms. On Facebook, our follower base has grown by 840,000 fans since the beginning of the year, helping us outpace numerous sports organizations, including Major League Baseball, NASCAR and the NHL. Because of you, the fans, our combined international Facebook follower total recently hit 2.8 million. On PBR.com, our unique visitor total has grown by 34 percent, compared to last year.

The PBR understands that the way we consume news and entertainment is always changing in the modern era. Our fans are consistently among the most digitally-engaged in all of sports, especially when it comes to Facebook. We realize we must continue do more to bring our sport to all of our fans online, and we will undoubtedly continue to strive to keep you informed and engaged through our various channels.

I am in no way surprised  to see so many of our fans jumping into the PBR conversation online after having your endless support over these past 21 years.

That passion has been on display every weekend, as the BFTS stops in a variety of U.S. destinations, such as New York, Chicago, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arlington, Texas, as well as this weekend’s Battle at the Beau in Biloxi, Mississippi.

No matter where we stop, it’s always great to see our passionate fans awaiting.

Our attendance is up by 5.9 percent at BFTS events this year, and we set new all-time attendance records in Duluth, Oklahoma City, Sacramento, Anaheim, Kansas City, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Nampa, Tulsa and Nashville.

With the season getting ready to come to an exciting conclusion, I’m as eager as you to see who will come out on top in this enthrallingly-tight world title race. While we prepare to watch legendary two-time World Champion Bull Bushwacker buck for the last time, I want to send my most heartfelt thank you to all of our fans for making 2014 a rousing success both in and out of the arena.

Enjoy the final events of the season, and let’s gear up for another adrenaline-filled World Finals this Oct. 22-26 in Las Vegas, where we will crown our 21stPBR World Champion at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Many thanks and best regards,

Jim Haworth
