Aguiar Wins Velocity Tour Silvano Alves Challenge

ALLEN, Texas. – Ricky Aguiar (Stephenville, Texas) won his first event of the season at the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) Silvano Alves Challenge Benefitting Boots for Troops at the Allen Event Center Sunday night.

The 29-year-old captured the win after earning 87 points aboard Trump Train (K-C Bucking Bulls/Nothin’ But Try Ranch) in Round 1. Aguiar was later bucked off by Seeing Red (Flying S Bucking Bulls) in the championship round, but was able to hold on to the event lead. The victory gave Aguiar 80 world points and $6,788.14 and helped him break into the Top 90 in the world standings.

2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) finished second in the event after covering Hangman (John Donaho) for 86.5 points in Round 1. Davis was also bucked off in the championship round by Lost Soul(Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC), but still picked up 50 points toward the world standings and $4,971.42.

Davis trails current world leader Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) by 1431.67 points heading into the second half of the Built Ford Tough Series, which begins next weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Aug. 12-13.

Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) ended the night with a third-place finish after an 85-point ride on Bezerk (Jeff Robinson / BMC). Nance bucked off La Malta (Flying S Bucking Bulls) in the championship round, but will still be taking home 30 world points and $3,154.69.

Troy Wilkinson (Upper Horton, Australia) finished in fourth place. The Australian started the night by bucking off Shadow Recruit (Broken Arrow Bucking Bulls) but grabbed a spot in the championship round on buck off time where he rode Damn Frustrating (4G/Leschyshyn/Martinez Bucking Bulls) for 84.5 points. The 2017 PBR Australia Champion pocketed 20 world points, a check for $4,971.42 and ends the summer break at No. 28 in the world standings.

Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) rounded the Top 5, earning $1,487.58 and 15 points toward the world s­tandings. Pacheco rode Boots For Troops Ambushed (Shane Anniboli / Show Sports Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 for 76.5 points before eventually bucking off Pick-It Construction’s Find Jesus (Ogden Ranch/Hart Cattle Co.) in the championship round.

Pacheco, the No. 2 ranked bull rider in the world, currently sits 105 points behind Aparecido heading into the second half of the BFTS.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will next head to Salinas, California, for the Bulls of Summer event on August 26 at the Salinas Sports Complex.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
