KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eduardo Aparecido returned to Kansas City where he rode his way to the victory at the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Kansas City Invitational, presented by Express Employment Professionals, for the second year in a row Sunday afternoon at Sprint Center.

Aparecido used a perfect 3-for-3 performance to seal the victory. He rode Swashbuckler (Dakota Rodeo/Rosen/Struve/Berger) for 85.5 points in Round 2 before conquering Cooper Tires Brown Sugar (Dakota Rodeo/Rosen/Struve/Berger) for 88.75 points in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. It was the first time this season that Aparecido turned in a perfect weekend and it earned him 540 world points and $36,400.

With the win, Aparecido jumped from sixth to third in the world standings and is just 617.5 points away from world leader Jess Lockwood, who did not record a ride in Kansas City.

2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis continued his resurgence by finishing in second place in Kansas City after his own 3-for-3 performance. Davis rode Cheese Bandit (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve) for 82.75 points in Round 2, and capped his weekend with an 89.75-point ride on Jailhouse Jr. (Peck/Kaplow Insurance/Viducic Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

The defending World Champion earned 400 world points and jumped from 11th to 5th in the world standings and trails Lockwood by 835 points. Davis also took home $20,080 in winnings over the weekend.

Three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves went 3-for-3 and finished third in Kansas City. Alves rode Strong Heart (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve) for 83.75 points in Round 2 before he reached 8 seconds aboard Wicked (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) for 87 points in the championship round. For the effort, Alves earned 225 points toward the world standings and $9,185.

Last weekend’s Anaheim, California, event winner Shane Proctor, continued his hot streak by placing fourth in Kansas City. Proctor went 2-for-3 and won the championship round after an 89.75-point ride on Coopers Comet (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen).

BFTS rookie Claudio Montanha Jr. rounded out the Top 5 after going a perfect 3-for-3 in his debut on the PBR’s top-flight tour. Montanha rode Colorado Chrome (Owens/Wyatt) for 85.75 points in Round 2 before covering Jack Daniel’s After Party (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve) for 85.5 points in the championship round. The rookie picked up 170 world points over the weekend and jumped from 30th to 20th in the world standings. Montanha also took home a $6,000 paycheck for the effort.

World Champion Bull Contender Pearl Harbor was named the YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event title after turning in a monstrous 46.25-point bull score when he tossed Rubens Barbosa in Saturday’s 15/15 Bucking Battle. It was the second time this bovine has collected top honors at an event this season.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will now head deep in the heart of Texas for the second PBR Major of the season. AT&T Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas, will host the Frontier Communications Iron Cowboy on Saturday, Feb. 18, where extra points and $100,000 will be on the line.

CBS Sports Network will broadcast Round 1 on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, while the final rounds will air on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 19th at 12 p.m. ET. Fans can also watch each round in real time on PBR LIVE and the PBR LIVE app at 5:30 p.m. ET.
