Australian Jones Picks Up Pendleton TPD Victory

Ben Jones went 2-for-2 to claim the TPD event in Pendleton, Oregon.

PUEBLO, Colo. – Ben Jones (New South Wales, Australia) was the sole rider to go 2-for-2 atop his bulls at the Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Division U.S. Bank Pendleton PBR Classic event this past Monday and Tuesday in Pendleton, Oregon.

Jones put together a 79.5-point effort in Round 1, covering Jeff Robinson’sEvel Knievel. The Australian veteran PBR bull rider followed with a Round 2 ride atop Steely Dan (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 86.5 points. His score totaled 166 points overall, earning him $14,389.65 in winnings for first place.

Second place went to 19-year-old Derek Kolbaba with an 87.5-point performance on Cyrus (Four Star Rodeo), which earned him an extra $1,000 for covering the Monster Energy Bounty Bull, taking home $10,143.90.

Top PBR rookie Gage Gay and Chase Outlaw, last week’s Built Ford Tough Series event winner in Nashville, Tennessee, tied for third place overall. Gay rode Four Star Rodeo’s Mystro for 87 points while Outlaw matched his score on MVP (Wolf Creek Cattle Co.). Both riders earned $5,255.55.

Montana-native Dakota Louis rounded out the Top 5 with 84.5 points for $2,937.60.

This weekend, the PBR’s BlueDef Velocity Tour will stop in Louisville, Kentucky, while the TPD will take place in Fredericksburg, Texas.

The Louisville, Kentucky, BlueDef Velocity Tour will take place at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Brant Atwood (Pampa, Texas),Matt Bohon (Cole Camp, Missouri) and Budd Williamson (Queensland, Australia) are all ready to ride.

Skeeter Kingsolver, Luis Blanco and Cooper Davis are scheduled to compete at the Fredericksburg, Texas, PBR TPD event on Saturday, Sept. 13 with the competition beginning at 7 p.m., at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.

Sept. 8-9 at US Bank Pendleton PBR Classic in Pendleton, Ore.
