Babbington Wins PBR BlueDEF Tour Event in Portland

Fraser Babbington goes 2-for-2 in Portland, Oregon.
PORTLAND, Ore. – Fraser Babbington captured the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) BlueDEF Tour (BDT) event victory Saturday night with a total score of 180 points inside the Moda Center.
Babbington went 2-for-2 after riding Party Pooper (Howell Rodeo Company Inc.) for 88.5 points in Round 1, and Bottle Rocket (Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co.) for 91.5 points in the championship round. With the win, the 2015 PBR Australia champion earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings and an invitation to compete at the Ak-Chin Invitational in Phoenix at Talking Stick Resort Arena on March 5-6.
Luis Blanco and Michael Lane tied for second place with scores of 174 points, which gave each 40 world standings points. In fourth place was Kurt Shepard with a score of 91 points. Shepard earned 20 points toward the world standings. In a three-way tie for fifth place were Beau Willis, Neil Holmes, and Corey Granger with scores of 89 points each, giving each rider 8.3 points toward the world standings.
Two bulls from Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co. tied for the high-marked bull score of the night with 45 points each. Radio Active earned the score with a 4.19-second buckoff of Kolt Donaldson in the long round, and Bottle Rocket earned the score on Fraser Babbington’s winning ride.
Portland was the 12th event of the 2016 BlueDEF Tour. The season will culminate with the 2016 BlueDEF Finals taking place Oct. 29-31 at South Point Arena in Las Vegas. The 2016 BlueDEF Champion will be the rider who earns the most points throughout the 2016 BDT season, including the BlueDEF Finals. He will receive $50,000 and qualify to compete at the $2.3 million PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.
The BlueDEF Tour presented by Real Time Pain Relief heads to Hampton, Virginia next week. The event will take place at the Hampton Coliseum on Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m. ET.
