PUEBLO, Colo. – A major new TV deal with two leading Brazilian channels will bring fans more of the sport they love while helping PBR continue to grow in Brazil.

TerraViva Channel, a giant agribusiness network reaching 36 million Brazilian homes, along with BandSports, available in six million homes, will be televising 10 events in the PBR Monster Energy Championship in Brazil, as well as highlights of the 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast.

PBR news and highlights will also be seen on BandNews.

The landmark five-year deal was brokered by IMG Media.

The PBR Monster Energy Championship in Brazil is the country’s leading bull riding organization and the only Brazilian bull riding tour that is part of a Global Championship. Riders competing in the Brazil Monster Energy Series qualify for the PBR Finals in Brazil and the elite 25th PBR: Unleash the Beast in the U.S. There are 13 Brazilian tour events scheduled in 2018.

“This new relationship providing PBR with coverage throughout Brazil on two channels and additional news and promotion of the sport on BandSports, TV Terraviva and BandNews, will help bring PBR to new audiences and help the sport continue to grow in a country extremely passionate about bull riding,” said Martha Cajado, CEO PBR Brazil.

It is estimated that bull riding attracts about 30 million people a year to Brazilian arenas, according to Denis Gavazzi, who is responsible for BandSport’s editorial staff.

“Being the official PBR channel is a great source of pride for all of us,” Gavazzi said.

Brazilian athletes have made a significant mark in PBR since Adriano Moraes won the first World Championship 25 years ago.  One third of the qualified riders in the sport’s elite series are Brazilian, and five of the Top 10 all-time earners in PBR are Brazilian riders: Silvano Alves, Guilherme Marchi, Moraes, Renato Nunes, and Robson Palermo.

PBR Brazil was founded in 2006. Since 2016, more than three million fans have attended live PBR events in the country.

The sport’s growth in Brazil mirrors increased popularity across the globe. PBR now competes in five countries, and the new PBR Global Cup will make its second stop in Brazil at a date and venue to be announced.
