DRAW NOTE

OAKLAND, Calif. – This weekend’s Kawasaki Strong Battle at the Bay features the return of two riders from injury in Ty Pozzobon and Reese Cates.

Pozzobon was originally expected to miss the remainder of the 2014 Built Ford Tough Series following an injury to his right ACL and LCL during the 2014 Calgary Stampede this past July while disembarking Wrangler Extreme during the 10-man round.

He wound up finishing second overall in Calgary, but had believed his season was over until Dr. Tandy Freeman told Pozzobon at the end of August that he would be able to potentially avoid surgery and attempt a comeback.

He heads to Oracle Arena 25th in the world standings and is slated to square off against Jose Quervo after being ranked 16th at the time of his injury.

Cates, who is in this weekend’s draw because of an injury exemption, is another rider returning from injury after his initial return to Built Ford Tough Series action didn’t go as planned in Nashville.

Three weeks ago, Cates was back on tour after missing six months due surgical reconstruction of his right shoulder. However, he has missed the last two events because of a pulled right groin he suffered in Round 1 attempting to ride Hells A Poppin in Nashville.

He is ranked 58th in the world and has a Round 1 matchup againstMagician.

Tyler Harr, currently 39th in the world standings, is in the Oakland draw in search of gaining valuable points toward potentially qualifying for the Built Ford Tough World Finals for the first time in his career.

He qualified for the Kawasaki Strong Battle at the Bay by winning the Minneapolis BlueDEF Velocity Tour event last Saturday night and was the only rider to cover both of his bulls.

Claudio Crisostomo, Josh Faircloth, Harve Stewart, Jordan Hupp, Kody Lostroh, Billy Robinson and Jason Malone are riding in Oakland as alternates, while Neil Holmes will be using the first of his three event invites.

The winner of this weekend’s event will face Bushwacker in a special Bad Boy Mower’s Bonus Round $50,000 matchup.
