PUEBLO, Colo. – Bonner Bolton (Gardendale, Texas) covered both his bulls on Nov. 22, including an event-high 89.5 points in the championship round, to earn the victory at the Professional Bull Riders BlueDEF Velocity Tour event in Bakersfield, California.
Bolton’s final ride of the night on Boo-Ray gave him a total of 174 points, $6,550.00 and his first Velocity win of the new season. Bolton rode Blizzard in Round 1 for 84.5 points and the first qualified ride of the night as he entered the championship round tied for third in the event average with Ben Jones (Goulburn, Australia).
Bolton’s 89.5 points made up one of five qualified rides in the championship round, as the 24-year old held off Dallee Mason (Caldwell, Idaho) for the victory.
Mason placed second in the event with 173 points and earned a payday of $4,400.00 off his 84-point score in Round 1 and an 89-point score in the championship round. Paulo Lima (Bezerros, Brazil) finished in third place with 172 points and $3,450.00.
Jones and Robson Aragao (Aracaju, Brazil) tied for fourth-place with 170 points.
At the Ariat PBR Touring Pro event in Springfield, Missouri, which took place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21-22, Budd Williamson (Ayr, Australia) put together two solid rides to win the event with 175 points and $5,235.57.
Williamson tallied 86.5 points in Round 1 and entered the championship round in second place, behind Jordan Allen (Buffalo, Missouri), who posted 88 points. Allen was unable to ride his bull in the championship round, so it was up to Williamson to put up a score. Williamson rode for 88.5 points to become just the third rider to cover his bull in the championship round and came away with the victory.
Quentin Vaught (Crane, Missouri) finished in second with 152.5 points and $3,170.72, while Lane Lasley (North Little Rock, Arkansas) and Allen tied for third with 88 points.
The next TPD event will be at the Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio, Texas with Jones, Bolton, Jason Malone (Pleasanton, Texas) and Austin Meier (Kinta, Oklahoma) set to compete.
The next BlueDEF Velocity Tour event will take place Jan. 10-11 in Laredo, Texas.
