SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Jake Brown had to make the victory lap around the AT&T Center on Tuesday night with Mason Clements when they each scored 83.5 points in the bareback riding.

On Wednesday, he got to make the trip all by himself. Again, it was an 83.5 point effort that earned him the first-place check of $2,281. His success came aboard a horse named Spicy Chicken owned by Harry Vold Rodeo. Thanks to those two first-place finishes, Brown has earned $4,277 in the AT&T Center, more than any other contestant in the third bracket of competition.

There is still another opportunity for Brown to ride a saddle horse around the arena and wave to the fans before the semifinals. He along with all of the other contestants in this bracket will have their third round of competition on Thursday night.

Brown is currently in second place in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings behind Tim O’Connell from Zwingle, Iowa, by less than $1,500. O’Connell dominated the first bracket here and earned $4,847. With the money that he has already won, Brown will advance to the semifinals regardless of his performance on Thursday. However, because contestants advance from the semifinals to the finals based on earnings, every dollar counts.

Other contestants that have earned money in both rounds so far and have secured a spot in the finals are Jacob Shofner, Huntsville, Texas, in the steer wrestling; Jake Cooper, Monument, N.M., and Tyler McKnight, Wells, Texas, in the team roping; Reese Riemer, Stinnett, Texas in tie-down roping; and Sage Kimzey, Strong City, Okla., in the bull riding. Each of these men has earned $3,422.

The top four money earners in each event will advance from the bracket to the semifinals. Bracket 3 will conclude at the ninth performance of the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo on Thursday. Action gets underway at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m.
