Bull Riders Set to Compete for over $72,000 at the 2016 Season Opener of the CBR Road to Cheyenne

JACKSON, Tenn. Dec. 29, 2015 – Tickets are on sale for the fifth stop on the Championship Bull Riding Road to Cheyenne Tour and the Horizon Series Bud Light Bull Riding Classic presented by Alan Vines Automotive to be held on September 15 and 16 at the Oman Arena in Jackson, Tennessee. The two day event will feature five rounds of non-stop bull riding action followed by a Saturday night only concert featuring country music artist Jason Pritchett.

This is a rare opportunity for bull riding fans to see two of the sport’s highest ranked bull riders. The 2015 CBR World Champion and 2015 NFR Average Champion Cody Teel will be joined by the reigning 2014-15 PRCA World Champion and 2014 CBR World Champion, Sage Steele Kimzey, on the dirt as they compete for the lion’s share of the unprecedented $72,000 total purse available in Jackson during the two day event. Never has this much money been awarded to bull riders competing in Jackson.

This event has not only attracted the two highly decorated World Champion bull riders, but Tennessee hometown favorite Corey Bailey will join the other 40 talented riders who will be in town and you can be sure they will be taking their best shot at the big pot of gold sitting in the CBR bank.

This year’s event is the first stop for the 2016 portion of the Road to Cheyenne which pits the industry’s elite riders against the best bulls in a Friday night format which will feature a $10,000 bounty bull hand picked by 4 Time World Champion bull rider and CBR Chute Boss, Tuff Hedeman. The rider with the highest score in the first round gets the shot at the bounty bull. If he makes the whistle, he takes home an additional $10,000 for his eight seconds of work. The following night will be the CBR three round tournament style action competition. Both nights, the doors will open at 6 pm for ticket holders to enjoy the activities on the concourse including great shopping, products, autograph sessions and meet and greet with the CBR Bullfighters.

This year’s added prize money available for this event originated from an earlier event in Mercedes, Texas where no bull rider covered his bull in the shoot-out round. CBR rules state that the purse rolls over into the next event and that event is Jackson, Tennessee.

In addition to the lucrative prize money, bull riders accumulate points which qualify them for the World Finals, part of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held in Wyoming next July. At the end of the World Finals the contestant who has the most points will be crowned the CBR World Champion and receive a $100,000 bonus.

The Jackson event will also feature the “other side of the ride”, CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Bull owners from all around the country will bring three bulls that are featured during the rounds of competition. The bulls are competing for points based on their performance in the arena. Additionally, the time the bull riders stays on is added to the bull’s score. At the end of the night the owner with the three highest scoring bulls will receive $20,000.

CBR has become known for their action packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats and with this new show debuting in Jackson, the CBR Jackson Tennessee event is set to impress. From having great bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and enthusiastic fans, there is something for everyone at the CBR in Jackson.

The CBR Road to Cheyenne action is being held on Friday and Saturday, January 15-16, 2016, at 8 pm at the Oman Arena, 179 Lane Avenue. Tickets are available and can be purchased on dirtroadtickets.com or at Rustic Soul, 126 Emporium Drive in Jackson.
