Calgary Stampede 4-H Rodeo Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Calgary – Celebrating 20 years of youth development, the Calgary Stampede 4-H Rodeo is set to begin this Friday, August 18, 2017, and continue through the weekend. See the rodeo stars of tomorrow ride and rope in this free, family friendly event in the Agrium Western Event Centre.

More than 70 of the best young cowgirls and cowboys in 4-H will be competing in events such cow riding, barrel racing, goat tying and pole bending. The competition also includes the exciting Jeopardy Trail event, an obstacle course designed to highlight the skills of both horse and rider, showcasing the trust developed through a close relationship.

Throughout the weekend the young 4-H members, aged nine to 20, will also have the opportunity to attend clinics taught by industry leaders focused on proper rodeo and animal care techniques. Many will also volunteer at the Giddy-Up Rodeo for children with special needs, presented Saturday morning by the Calgary Stampede’s Queens’ Alumni committee.
