Calgary Stampede Daily News Briefing – Monday, July 17th, 2017

That’s a wrap! The Calgary Stampede has once again come to a close. Exciting programming and special offers combined with hot, summer weather brought strong attendance to Stampede Park July 7 – 16, 2017. Guests from near and far came to our city to enjoy The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and take part in family traditions, new events and Canada 150th celebrations.

“I want to start off by thanking Calgary, its citizens, our neighbours, guests and international visitors we’ve had from around the world for coming to this year’s Stampede,” says David Sibbald, president & chairman of the board, Calgary Stampede. “The Calgary Stampede has been an iconic symbol of volunteerism, community spirit and western values for more than a century, a gathering place for the community,” adds Sibbald.

Warren Connell, chief executive officer, Calgary Stampede further adds to the sentiment of another successful Stampede, “The Calgary Stampede is really about engaging the community, celebrating the past but also building for the future. I’d like to thank our sponsors, the community; the Government of Alberta plays a particular role. Without all of these groups working together we could never produce this very special festival,” says Connell.

Following on the success from this year’s 10-day event, we look forward to celebrating our Western heritage and community spirit with you again. See you next year!
