Miniature Horse Show – Maxing out at 34 inches tall, these miniature horses compete in various classes, showcasing their skills. Their three-day showcase is a Calgary Stampede highlight for many- young and old alike!

Mercuria NCHA Cutting Horse: Bill Collins Youth Excellence Showcase- Each year at the Calgary Stampede we recognize five youth riders in a Youth Cutting Showcase during the Mercuria NCHA World Series of Cutting. In a cutting competition, each horse and rider is faced with a herd of cattle and two and a half minutes on the clock. Working together they must select a single cow to move out of or ‘cut’ from the herd. Once the cow has been selected and removed from the herd the rider drops their reins, saying to the horse – take it from here! The pair must then demonstrate their ability to keep the cow from returning to the herd.

Monday’s Midway Food Winner:

A new category this year, we recruited a panel of vegetarians to help us find the Best Vegetarian dish on the Stampede Midway. The winner? The Vegetarian Wrap from Wrap Daddy’s, located in front of the Big Four Building. Made of fresh veggies, a vegetable-based protein made of corn, rice and oats, and a tomato-based salsa made fresh every morning, if you hold the sour cream and cheese, it then becomes a vegan-friendly option as well. So make sure to let all your friends know the next time they’re wondering if there’s anything for them on the Midway!
