Calgary Stampede Indian Princess’ Parade Outfit Release

Calgary – Savanna Sparvier, 2017 Calgary Stampede Indian Princess, will be showcasing her custom designed Stampede Parade regalia on Tuesday, May 9, at 1 p.m., at Alberta Boot Company.

Sparvier’s outfit is a representation of the five nations of Treaty 7 and pays homage to the importance of family legacy and tradition in First Nations culture. Sparvier’s mother, Sandra Sparvier, designed the outfit alongside Janine’s Custom Creations using inspiration from Sparvier’s grandmother, Emily Duck Chief, whose traditional dress was featured on the 1939 Calgary Stampede Poster.

Sparvier’s modern take on Duck Chief’s traditional dress features various historic elements that she will be happy to speak to at the reveal.
