Calgary Stampede Parade Show Band Award Winners

Calgary – Showbands who participated in Friday’s Calgary Stampede Parade performed in front of a live audience of approximately 275,000 people. Countless others also watched on television and online. And what a memorable performance it was!

Twelve of the world’s best show bands competed for five titles and prize money.

Show bands merge musical elements, dance and choreography, and present world-class musical and visual performances. Show bands are judged, out of a possible score of 100, on a number of elements including: what is heard (music), what is seen (visual), and the overall impact of the program’s visual and musical design. Bands that present a compelling performance and visual design, as well as bands that carefully synchronize their movements, achieve top marks.

The Calgary Stampede Parade Committee is excited to announce the following winners of the 2017 Calgary Stampede Parade band competition, as selected by the Calgary Stampede Parade judges:

Best Overall Band: Cotter High School Marching Band, Winona, Minnesota, USA

Best Senior Band: Cotter High School Marching Band, Winona, Minnesota, USA

Best Junior Band: Calgary Round-Up Band, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Best Pipe Band: Calgary Police Pipe Band, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Best Band Auxiliary: Cotter High School Marching Band, Winona, Minnesota, USA
