Castro Wins Velocity Tour Event in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. – Luciano de Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) went 2-for-2 to win the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Bulls of Summer sanctioned event Saturday night at the Salinas Sports Complex.

Castro started the night with an 87.5-point ride on Mahem (Nunes Livestock), then capped off the victory by conquering Peanut Brittle(Western Rodeos, Inc.) for 84 points in the championship round.

The Brazilian earned 80 world points and $8,811.91 for the victory.

Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas) and Ramon de Lima (Antioch, Brazil) tied for second place in California. Livingston covered Light’s Out (Julio Moreno / Dallas Schott) for 84.5 points before riding High Razor (Humpz and Hornz) for 86.5 points in the championship round. The 19-year-old moved into No. 28 in the world standings after earning 40 world points and a check for $5,344.93.

Lima, meanwhile, took over the No. 29 spot in the world standings after earning 40 world points and $4,911.56. Lima started with an 85-point ride on Mr. Miller (O’Connor Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 and followed that with an 86point effort on Pistol Pete (O’Connor Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

Fourth place went to Alex Marcillio (Macaubal, Brazil). Marcillio started the night with an 80.5-point ride on Fantastic (Humpz and Hornz / Sis & Stan Bucking Bulls), then covered Brown Bomber (Humpz and Hornz / Sis & Stan Bucking Bulls) for 87.5 points to win the championship round.

Marcillio earned 20 world points and is walking away from Saturday night with $3,755.90 in his pocket.

Ryan McConnel (Bloomfield, New Mexico) captured his second Top 5 finish of the season. McConnel turned in an 88-point ride on Hot Moves (O’Connor Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 before being bucked off by Hater (Marty Robinson Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.

McConnel will be taking home $2,946.93 and 15 points toward the world standings.

Uncle Fester (Humpz and Hornz / Sis & Stan Bucking Bulls) and Brown Bomber were the Top Bulls of the night after recording matching 44-point bull scores.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will next head to Archdale, North Carolina, for the 19th Annual TNT Carports Jerome Davis PBR Invitational September 1-2.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
