CBR Bull of the Year Nominee: 138 Stanley Hart

Sire: -127 Shine Time
Bred and owned by Norris Dalton

Three up and three down is the short story of Norris Dalton’s super star bucker, 138 Stanley Hart.

138 Stanley Hart, sired by another former Dalton CBR Bull of the Year candidate, 127 Shine Time. 138 carries his name as a tribute to the late stock contractor Stanley Hart, who Dalton purchased 138’s momma from in 2007. 138 joins the short list of unridden bulls on the CBR Bull of the Year nominee list.

When asked what makes this bull special Norris replied, “He likes to buck”.

Somewhat of an understatement if you ask the bull riders who got on him and watched him from the back of the chutes, but with that in mind we will try and share this bred to buck bull’s story.

Always bucking in the semifinal round on the Road to Cheyenne, Stanley Hart began his quest for Bull of the Year in El Paso where he was marked the highest bull score of the event 91 total points (46) against Francisco Garcia in February. Garcia lasted 4.92 seconds, the longest of the three attempts this season.

Next up was his second out in late March. 138’s highest marked bull score came against CBR World Finals qualifier Jeffery Ramagos in Salina, Kansas last March when he earned the buckle and title of Salina Bull of the Event. He anchored Dalton’s team win in Salina with the highest mark of the night, 47 points.

“He was definitely the rankest bull I got on all year, he is one of those bulls that if a man wants to win that’s the bull he wants next to his name,” said Ramagos about his Salina, Kansas trip on 138 that lasted 3.13 seconds.

“What made him difficult was that he was catching a lot of air followed by a lot of kick, combine that with his speed and power and it was all there,” continued Ramagos.

His third and last out was in Fort Worth, the legendary Tuff Hedeman event where buckers have to present their rank card to gain access. His opponent in Fort Worth was former CBR World Champion bull rider Cole Echols. He was marked the third rankest bull of the night after bucking off Cole in 3.11 seconds. He was 89.5 on the four judge CBR bull team challenge system.

2017 CBR Bull of the Year receives a CBR logo hand made custom pair of cowboy boots by Fenoglio Boot Company; a pure beaver felt American Hat courtesy of American Hat Co; and a Hyo Silver custom Trophy Buckle.

Stanley Hart is a six year old bull who lives in North Texas with Norris Dalton at the Dalton Bucking Bulls ranch. Established in 1995 with some of the best cows and breeders in the business, Norris Dalton Bucking Bulls is a family owned bucking bull operation in Petrolia, Texas.
