ARLINGTON, Texas – This year marks the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) sixth consecutive visit to Arlington with the Iron Cowboy, which is also the only Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) stop in Texas this season.
Iron Cowboy is one of the PBR Majors, a headliner event which promotes new formats, awards increased points and prize money and will be shown on CBS Television Network. The event will feature 40 of the Top bull riders from the Built Ford Tough Series and the PBR’s BlueDEF Velocity Tour competing to determine who can ride the most consecutive bulls in one evening. The total prize purse has increased from $150,000 to $250,000 with the winner receiving $180,000 including a guaranteed $100,000 Bad Boy Mowers Bonus.
Durant, Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino Resort, the closest Casino to Dallas, will join Kawasaki as the entitlement and presenting sponsors of the Iron Cowboy, the ninth stop on the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series.
The Choctaw Casino Resort Iron Cowboy powered by Kawasaki Strong will take place Saturday, Feb. 28 at AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. This is Choctaw Casino Resort’s first partnership with the PBR; Kawasaki has been an official PBR sponsor since 2012.
“Collaborating with Choctaw Casino Resort and Kawasaki on the PBR’s sixth installment of the Iron Cowboy fits right into the plan for this year,” said Jim Haworth, chairman and CEO of the PBR. “The format change and increased purse are bringing a higher profile and prestige to the event, therefore having a new sponsor adds to the excitement. Along with that, Kawasaki strengthens our relationship by continuing to find incremental opportunities to stay involved with the PBR as it has for the past four years. This not only reinforces the support of our loyal fan base, but also exposes new fans to what the PBR has to offer.”
“We are excited about our partnership with this year’s PBR Iron Cowboy,” Teresa Drew, the senior director of marketing for the Choctaw Casino Resort said. “We look forward to the weekend events and future opportunities with the PBR.”
Kevin Allen, Manager of PR and Brand Experience at Kawasaki, stated, “Kawasaki is extremely pleased to be the presenting sponsor at this round of the BFTS in Arlington. Texas fans love PBR and the accompanying action, and Kawasaki loves to be a part of that action. Also, two of the sport’s strongest bull riders represent the Kawasaki brand – J.B. Mauney and Shane Proctor – so we’ll be rooting for our athletes right along with the fans!”
The Choctaw Casino Resort Iron Cowboy powered by Kawasaki Strong kicks off the richest weekend in Western sports history. The competition begins Saturday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets, ranging in price from $20 to $150, and can be purchased at the AT&T Stadium Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.
