DENVER, Colorado – The elite in pro rodeo rolled into Denver last weekend to compete for the title of Rodeo All-Star champion. Eight contestants walked away winners, and seven of them automatically became qualifiers for The Days of 47 pro rodeo in Utah this July.

The winning bull rider was Dakota Louis from Browning, Montana. Louis advanced to the Finals on Saturday based on his buck off time aboard Sink Hole during the Semi Finals on Friday night.

Cody Tesch (Berthoud, Colorado) also advanced to Saturday’s Finals based on his buck off time of 7.10 aboard Golden Bear during the Semi Final round on Saturday.

In the Finals, Tesch and Louis were the only riders out of a field of eight to advance as both covered their bulls. Louis rode Game Changer for a score of 83.5 while Tesch went the 8 on Bolo for 81.5. The two then squared off against each for a winner-take-all ride. Louis won the round and the event with an 82-point ride on Red Image Summit.

Louis’ win also earned him a spot at the Days of 47 Cowboy Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Komatsu Equipment Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo presented by Zions Bank, July 19-21 and 23-24, will take place at the $17.5 million state-of-the-art Days of ’47 Arena at the Utah State Fair Park, custom designed and built for rodeo. The venue, an outdoor arena located in the heart of Salt Lake City, features more than 10,000 stadium-style seats.
