Davis And Quaresima Tie For Round 1 Win In St. Louis

By: Heather Croze

ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) and Junio Quaresima (Meridiano, Brazil) tied for the Round 1 win on Friday night at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Mason Lowe Memorial event in St. Louis at the Enterprise Center.

Davis took the early lead after riding Mac’s Barbecue (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Diamond Willow) for 86.25 points.

Just two riders later Quaresima tied the 2016 PBR World Champion with a matching 86.25-point score aboard Sitting Bull (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Diamond Willow).

It’s the second round win for Davis this season and the first for Quaresima. In fact, the ride was the 26-year old Brazilians first on the PBR Unleash The Beast.

For the Round 1 tie the pair each earned 80 world points. Davis improved to No. 15 in the PBR world standings while Quaresima is now 16th.

In his first UTB event of the season, 2018 PBR World Champion, Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) finished in a tie with Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas) for third place.

Pacheco rode Roll of the Dice (Halpain & Rotch) for 85.5 points while Livingston picked up a much-needed ride aboard Unhinged (Gene Owen Bucking Bulls). The two riders each earned 45 world points.

Round out the Top-5 was Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas) who rode his first bull on the UTB when he covered Getting Hammered (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) for 85 points. Mitchell earned 30 points towards the world standings.

The event in St. Louis was renamed the Mason Lowe Memorial after Missouri bull rider, Mason Lowe tragically lost his life at a PBR event in Denver just one month ago. As part of the celebration of Lowe’s life, on Thursday, the 26-year old’s wife, Abbey released a rehabilitated bald eagle back into the wild in a tribute with the World Bird Sanctuary.

Fans can still donate to the Mason Lowe fund that was established by the National Western Stock Show and PBR. All funds will be sent to the Lowe family and donations can be made here.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will return to Enterprise Center, tomorrow for Round 2 and the championship round. Each rider will face one more bull before the Top 15 move on to the championship round where a winner will be crowned.
