SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –Nothing has been able to stop reigning PBR World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) since he stepped foot in Missouri State University’s JQH Arena. Davis continued his mission when he swept both Round 2 and the 15/15 Bucking Battle Saturday night at the Built Ford Tough Series PFIWestern.com Invitational, presented by Bass Pro Shops.

Davis won the 15/15 Bucking Battle courtesy of a masterful 90.5-point ride on Cut The Cord (Broken Arrow Bucking Bulls). It was the second time this season that Davis has ridden Cut The Cord, and both rides broke the 90-point threshold.

In total, Davis picked up 250 world points and $15,132 for the Round 2 and 15/15 Bucking Battle wins. The effort also helped him climb up from No. 6 in the world standings to No. 4.

Davis now trials current world leader Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil), who bucked off in Round 2 and the 15/15 Bucking Battle, by 984.17 points.

Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) finished in second place in the 15/15 Bucking Battle after riding Dusty’s Revenge (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) for 87.5 points. Vieira became the first cowboy to cover Dusty’s Revenge, who had previously been unridden in seven BFTS outs.

For the finish, Vieira pocketed 90 points toward the world standings and $9,500.

Fans can see the 15/15 Bucking Battle exclusively on CBS national television Sunday Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. ET, check your local listings.

Earlier in the evening, Davis claimed the win in Round 2 of the PFIWestern.com, presented by Bass Pro Shops. Davis rode Roll of the Dice(Halpain Bucking Bulls) for 88.25 points to win his second round in a row, and take the lead in the event average heading into Championship Sunday.

Davis is one of four riders who have gone 2-for-2 so far in Springfield, and it earned him 100 world points and $3,632.

Emilio Resende (Santa Helena Do Goias, Brazil) came in second place in Round 2 following an 87.25-point ride on Hedoo (Jane Clark/Gene Owen). Resende picked up 60 world points and $2,802 for the effort, moving him to No. 30 in the world standings, five spots above the BFTS cutline.

Fellow Brazilian Rubens Barbosa (Iaciara, Brazil) took third place in Round 2 one day after finishing in third place in Friday’s Round 1. Barbosa covered Seeing Red (Flying S Bucking Bull) for 86.5 points to pick up 50 points toward the world standings and $2,052.

Barbosa heads into Championship Sunday second overall in the event average.

Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) was not far behind in fourth place after he reached the 8-second buzzer aboard Snowball (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) to the tune of 86.25 points. Lockwood netted 40 world points for the finish along with $1,352 and continued to gain ground on No. 1 Pacheco, who he trails by 540 points.

World No. 2 Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) rounded out the Top 5 in Saturday’s Round 2 after he rode La Malta (Flying S Bucking Bulls) for 86 points. Aparecido earned 30 world points and $902 for the finish.

Aparecido, the No. 2 rider in the world standings, has also gone 2-for-2 in Springfield and heads into Championship Sunday third overall in the event average. He currently trails No. 1 Pacheco by just 150 points.

American Bucking Bull Inc. (ABBI) held the Maturity event for bulls five years of age and older in conjunction with Round 2 of PBR’s Springfield BFTS event. At the end of the night D&H Cattle Co.’s Udder Lover claimed the victory with an impressive score of 90 points. In second was Hart Cattle Co.’s Canadian Mist with 89.25 points. With an 88.25, Shownuff from Wilson/King/Wallgren/Bar 3D was third. Fourth and fifth place was a tie between Strickland Bucking Bulls’ Lester Gillis and D&H Cattle Co.’s Chocolate Shake with an 88.
