LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For the second time this year, Ryan Dirteater stood atop the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) shark cage on Sunday as the winner of a 2016 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) event.  This time the city was North Little Rock, Arkansas, and the venue was Verizon Arena where Dirteater went 3-for-3 to claim the PBR’s Bad Boy Mowdown event title.  He picked up a total of 560 PBR world standings points for the event win, took home a check for $39,777 and moved from No. 14 to No. 8 in the PBR world standings.

“I won my first event [Built Ford Tough Series] in 2009 and a second one in 2001,” said Dirteater. “But, it’s taken me five years to win another one. It’s about time.”

Dirteater also won the Ak-Chin Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona, earlier this season.

Dirteater was leading the Bad Boy Mowdown going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday when he selected Jeff Robinson’s I’m A Gangster Too as his final ride of the event.  Out of nine previous attempts he had only successfully ridden I’m A Gangster Too two times.

“I know this bull and I know what I can do. It worked out well this time.”

Three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (2014, 2012, and 2011) broke out of his early season slump in North Little Rock with his own perfect weekend. Alves was the only other rider to go 3-for-3 on the weekend, which was capped with a 72.5-point ride on El Guerro (K&K Cattle Company) in the championship round. The ride secured Alves second place in the event and 315 points towards the world standings.  Alves came into Arkansas near the bubble in 33rd place and leaves more securely ranked No. 22.

2004 World Champion Mike Lee finished in third place, picking up 250 world standings points. The veteran bull rider finished the weekend 2-for-3 after being bucked off by Who Dey in 2.64 seconds in the championship round. Lee leaves Arkansas with 499 qualified rides on the BFTS. He will have a chance to become only the second rider in PBR history to reach 500 BFTS rides next week in Billings, Montana.

After winning Round 1 on Saturday night, 36-year-old rookie Wallace de Oliveira finished in fourth place, earning 205 points towards the world standings.

Tanner Byrne rounded out the Top 5 and collected 125 points towards the world standings.

In just the second BFTS event of his career, 18-year-old rookie Jess Lockwood from Volburg, Montana, won his second BFTS round with his 86-point ride on Shoot Out The Lights in Round 2. The No. 24 ranked bull rider finished sixth in the event with 115 world points.

Pearl Harbor (Bar D Cattle Co./Boyd-Floyd) was the high-marked bull in Little Rock earning a score of 45.5 points out of 50 during his 1.75 second trip against Cooper Davis.  This was Pearl Harbor’s second consecutive Salem NationaLease High-marked Bull award and his third of 2016.

The PBR Bad Boy Mowdown was the 13th of 26 events on the 2016 Built Ford Tough Series. Next weekend, April 15-17, the world’s Top 35 bull riders will buck into the Big Sky country where the Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings, Montana, will host the Stanley Performance In Action Invitational.

The competition begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 15; 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 16; and 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.  The three-day event will include the sixth PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2016 BFTS season featuring the Top 15 bull riders in the world taking on the Top 15 bulls.  This special round of competition will air on CBS Television Network on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.  Fans can also watch action from all three rounds in real time on PBR LIVE online at www.pbr.com/live, or via the PBR LIVE app, which is available for download now on Google Play and iTunes.
