Exciting Events Leading Up to the Reno Rodeo

Cowboy Truck Show, Golf Tournament, Miss Reno Rodeo Pageant and more

RENO, Nev. (May 22, 2018) — The 99th Reno Rodeo is set for June 14-23, but fans don’t have to wait until the “Wildest Richest Rodeo in the West” officially kicks off to get into the spirit. There are several family-friendly, action-packed western celebrations leading up to the main event, including a Cowboy Truck Show and the Miss Reno Rodeo Pageant.

Reno Rodeo Cowboy Truck Show: Saturday, June 2

The Cowboy Truck Show is back for its sixth year. Come see who has the biggest, baddest and dirtiest trucks at Bonanza Casino on June 2 from 2-6 p.m. The event is open to all trucks – whether they’re old, new, funky or just plain cool – with a $10 entry fee. Truck registration and parking starts at noon. Enjoy tasty food truck dishes or enjoy a cold one in the beer garden. The event is free to the public. Reno Rodeo Charitable Golf Tournament: Saturday, June 2

Enjoy the warm weather with a round of golf in support of Reno Rodeo Foundation programs that benefit children and families in our community on Saturday, June 2. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. A barbeque lunch will be prepared by former Reno Rodeo presidents and served by the Reno Rodeo Flag Girls. Miss Reno Rodeo 2019 Pageant: Wednesday, June 6- Friday, June 8

The 76th annual Miss Reno Rodeo Pageant will be held June 6-8. Contestants will have three days to “wow” the judges in seven different categories including horsemanship, equestrian technique, etiquette, Western style, knowledge of the industry, performance on a written exam and speech, and overall rodeo spirit.

The public is invited to join as pageant festivities begin on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. with a meet and greet and impromptu speeches at The Eddy. The horsemanship competition will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Reno Rodeo Arena and is free and open to the public. Here, contestants have a chance to show off equestrian technique and control by maneuvering their horse in unique and varying patterns for a panel of judges. The pageant culminates with the coronation dinner on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Peppermill where Miss Reno Rodeo 2019 will be crowned. Tickets for the coronation dinner can be purchased for $50 per person.

Reno Rodeo and KBUL Kick-Off Concert: Wednesday, June 13

The Reno Rodeo and K-Bull 98.1 are kicking off the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West” with a concert in the Reno Rodeo Outdoor Arena Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. with Jerrod Niemann, Lauren Alaina and Montgomery Gentry. Montgomery Gentry, the legendary duo behind such No. 1 hits “If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” “Something to Be Proud Of,” “Lucky Man,” “Back When I Knew It All” and “Roll with Me,” will headline the show. Eddie Montgomery will be touring without the late Troy Gentry. In honor of Gentry and their nearly two decades-worth of chart-topping Country music, fans can expect to hear their greatest hits mixed with tracks from the band’s long-awaited studio album Here’s to You. Opening is Jerrod Niemann, the country crooner behind the Platinum-certified No. 1 anthem, “Drink to That All Night,” and Season 10 American Idol alum, Lauren Alaina. Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive Parade: Thursday, June 14

The Cattle Drive is an authentic western experience where participants drive more than 300 cattle across 100 miles of the Nevada desert. The five-day drive offers a classic cowboy adventure including stunning sunsets, high-desert landscapes, songs ‘round the campfire and a bond between horse and rider. The public is invited to experience the cattle drive as it rolls into Reno Thursday, June 14 around noon. The cowboys, cattle and 1800s-style wagons will hit the pavement at Clearacre Blvd to McCarran and down Sutro as they make their way to the rodeo grounds.
