Farm Safety Day Returns to Stampede Park – A Hands-on Educational Experience for Southern Alberta’s Rural Youth

Calgary – More than 750 students in grades 6 to 9 from rural Southern Alberta school districts will partake in Farm Safety Day at Stampede Park on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. The event is proudly supported by AltaLink and gives students the opportunity to participate in various hands-on farm and rural safety activities that give them the tools and knowledge they need to practice safe habits. The event will take place in the AltaLink Hall in the Agrium Western Event Centre.

Students will learn about the potential risks of working on a farm and how to minimize those risks. This year’s topics include livestock safety, distracted driving, first aid and working safely around electricity. Also at the event will be motivational speaker, Curtis Webber—an accident survivor and high voltage safety consultant. Additionally, students will get hands-on experience at a grain safety station and will witness large equipment demonstrations.

Due to the involvement of minors in this event, please contact Kristina Barnes at kbarnes@calgarystampede.com or 403-585-4706 prior to taking any photos or video at Farm Safety Day.
