February 23 ProRodeo Sports News Available

The Feb. 23 edition of ProRodeo Sports News is available and free to read online and download.

This edition features one of the biggest rodeos in Texas, the San Angelo Rodeo (Page 20), the Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson, Miss., (Page 24), and the 140th Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee, Fla., (Page 26).

Those three rodeos propelled numerous cowboys upward in the 2018 PRCA World Standings (Page 10), while other rodeos boosted athletes in the All-American Standings (Page 48) and the various RAM Circuit Standings. (Page 50)

The payouts in ProRodeo are rapidly increasing for many rodeos. From 2016 to 2017 the Horse Heaven Round-Up Rodeo in Kennewick, Wash., increasing its prize money by $98,288, while the Moses Lake (Wash.) Round-Up increased by $35,021. It took an army of volunteers and a lot of planning to make the improvements happen, and ProRodeo’s athletes are appreciative of their efforts. (Page 36)

As ProRodeo moves forward, it’s important to look at the past. World champion steer wrestler Sid Steiner (AKA “Sid Rock”) gives a glimpse at his flamboyant ProRodeo life from the early 2000s and where he is today. (Page 28)

Hailing from New York state, 18-year-old Jake Edwards talks about winning the RAM First Frontier Circuit Finals Rodeo and his goals for his rookie year in “Cowboy Grille.” (Page 8)

No PSN is complete without some insight from a cowboy’s wife, which can be found in “He Said/She Said,” featuring tie-down roper J.C. Malone. (Page 12)

The ProRodeo Business Journal details upcoming rodeos, providing competing cowboys and their fans with a glimpse at the rodeo road ahead. (Page 55)
