For the Record: Nampa

The roots of the Snake River Stampede in Nampa, Idaho, trace back to a harvest festival in 1911 that grew into one of the biggest rodeos in the Northwest. As the rodeo grew, professional rodeo began to develop, and now Nampa is one of the biggest rodeos in the PRCA regular season.

The Snake River Stampede’s record book dates to 1946, and cowboys have a chance to top those records on July 17-21.

Nampa’s biggest payout was in 2014 with $385,011.

Scott Johnston set the Nampa record for most money won in all-around in 2000 with $14,315.

Bareback rider Bruce Ford set the Nampa record of 90 points in 1982, which was matched by Sean Culver in 2006. The two-head average record of 175 points was set by Tanner Aus in 2016.

Team ropers Derrick Begay and Will Woodfin set the Nampa record of 3.5 seconds in 2014. The three-head average record of 13.2 seconds was set by Travis Tryan and Matt Zancanella in 2003.

Saddle bronc rider Glen O’Neill set the Nampa record of 89 points in 2000. The two-head average record of 174 points was set by Chad Ferley in 2007.
