For the Record: Ogden

The first Ogden (Utah) Pioneer Days was held in 1934 to entice tourists to visit. As the festival grew, so did the rodeo’s notoriety, and by 1957 Ogden was added to the ProRodeo schedule, leading many of the biggest names in professional rodeo to visit the scenic mountain town.

Cowboys have from July 19-24 to top the highest scores and fastest times in Ogden’s record book, which dates to 1957.

Ogden’s biggest payout was $203,578 in 2015.

Clint Robinson set the Ogden record for most money won in all-around in 2006 with $6,436.

Bareback rider Kaycee Feild set the Ogden record of 91 points in 2008.

Steer wrestler Curtis Cassidy set two records at Ogden in 2009. First, he made a 3.1-second run, which helped him to also set the two-run average record of 7.6 seconds.

Two sets of team ropers set the Ogden record in 2010. Luke Brown and Martin Lucero, and Bubba Buckaloo and Matt Zancanella made 3.9-second runs. That quick run helped Buckaloo and Zancanella to also set the two-run average record of 9.1 seconds.

Saddle bronc rider Cody Wright set the Ogden record of 91 points in 2011.

Tie-down roper Jake Hannum set the Ogden record of 7.3 seconds in 2011.

Barrel racer Taci Bettis set the Ogden record of 17.05 seconds in 2017.

Bull rider Bryan Richardson set the Ogden record of 93 points in 2005.
