For the Record: Pueblo

Since 1945, some of the biggest names in professional rodeo have competed at the Colorado State Fair & Rodeo in Pueblo, but only the best left their mark by setting a rodeo record.

Steve Woolsey set the Pueblo bull riding record of 95 points in 2011 on Four L & Diamond S Rodeo’s Big Iron. Woolsey is a seven-time qualifier for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (2005-06, 2008-11 and 2013).

Cowboys will have a chance to win their share of Pueblo’s prize money and possibly top Woolsey’s record – and others – Aug. 24-27.

Pueblo’s biggest payout was in 1983 with $153,133, which is about $385,000 in 2018 dollars, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
