From Sidney Headed South
The two night performance in Sidney Montana concluded this weekend at the Richland County Fairgrounds. The Eastern Montana Bull Blowout was the second to last event for the CBR season as riders are striving for their points, hoping for a spot in Cheyenne Wyoming at the CBR World Finals.
Sawmill, AZ bull rider Cody Jesus maintained his lead in the CBR Tour, and Trey Holston gained on current CBR Horizon leader Braden Richardson. At this time, it is unlikely for any rider to catch up to Richardson in points at the final Horizon event July 7th in Giddings, TX.
Night one champion in Sidney was Adriano Long from Dilcon, AZ. Returning to bull riding after a short hiatus, Long made his mark in the first event back in Williston, ND. Sidney proved he deserves to be competing with the best as he nabbed the 9th position in the CBR World Standings.
“Navajo Indians make the best cowboys, and the number one guy (Cody Jesus) proves that,” Long jokingly said. “I try to stay humble and remember what my dad says: Keep singing your song, and keep holding on.”
CBR wants to give recognition to Adriano Long, Cole Skender and Hunter Salter for climbing the ranks, earning solid positions in Cheyenne this year. It is rare to get a group of new cowboys this late in the season, consistently cover their bulls in a few events to place them in the top 30.
Giddings TX will host the Lee County Sheriff’s Posse Fury on the 7th, which also will be the final Bull Team Challenge event prior to Cheyenne.
