DEADWOOD, S.D. – Brian Garr wrapped up his second Badlands Circuit year-end title in three seasons Aug. 28 with a steady, measured performance at the Days of ’76 Arena.
Garr, of Belle Fourche, S.D., won the third round in 12.3 seconds and placed in the fifth round en route to claiming the five-head average title at the Badlands Circuit Steer Roping Finals with a time of 63.5 seconds on four.
It gave Garr a 1.8-second margin over two-time World Champion Paul Tierney. With earnings of $3,259 Friday, Garr was easily able to pull away from Jay Pixley, who had entered the day second to him in the regular-season standings.
Garr and Pixley will be joined at next spring’s National Circuit Finals Steer Roping in Torrington, Wyo., by Jess Tierney, Coy Thompson and Ora Taton as the Badlands Circuit’s representatives.
Pixley had the fastest time of the day when he won the second round in 12.2 seconds.
