DEADWOOD, S.D. – Gage Gay (Staley, North Carolina) used a perfect 3-for-3 performance to win PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Deadwood Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour event Saturday night at the Deadwood Event Complex.

Gay capped off the victory by riding Red Bone (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) for 85.5 points in the championship round. Gay had previously won Round 1 on Friday night with an 88.5-point ride on Americana (Dakota Rodeo – Chad Berger/Hruby/Kainz) and carried that success over into Round 2 Saturday with 86 points on Tequila Sunrise (Dakota Rodeo/Julie Rosen/Clay Struve/Chad Berger).

The No. 26 rider in the world standings earned 80 world points and $6,900 for the victory.

Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montanta) is now ranked fourth in the world standings following his second-place finish in Deadwood. Lockwood joined Gay as the only two riders to cover all three of their bulls over the course of the two-day event.

On Friday night, Lockwood rode Flat Top Pete (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) for 82 points. Lockwood followed that up Saturday with an 85-point ride on Grandpa Joe (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Lacey Scott) in Round 2 and an 83-point trip aboard More Big Bucks (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) in the championship round.

Lockwood earned 50 points toward the world standings and a check for $4,600.

Third place went to Tyler Harr (Hazen, Arkansas). Harr came into the night tied for second and started the night with an 84.5-point ride on Devil In A Bottle (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve). He was then bucked off by Bad Moon Rising (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) in the championship round.

Harr snatched 30 points toward the world standings and $2,600.

Skeeter Kingsolver (McLouth, Kansas) placed fourth in this weekend’s event. Kingsolver started Round 2 with an 83-point ride on Sparticus (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) before eventually getting bucked off by Pile Driver (Dakota Rodeo – Chad Berger / Clay Struve / Ken Barnhard) in the championship round. Kingsolver took home 20 points toward the world standings and $1,400.

Cody Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma), currently No. 33 in the world standings, finished in fifth place after going 2-for-3. Tyler rode Blue Duck (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) for 85.5 points in a Round 2 re-ride, before eventually falling short aboard Flight Plan (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) in the championship round. Tyler pocketed 15 world points and $867.89 for the effort.
