NEW YORK — With an 88.75-point score atop Like a Boss (Rocking I Rodeo Co), J.W. Harris claimed top honors in the first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2016 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) and tied for the win with Robson Palermo in Round 1 of the Monster Energy Buck Off at the Garden, the first PBR Major of 2016.

A leaner, determined Harris picked up 150 PBR world standings points for his finish in the 15/15 Bucking Battle as one of only two riders with a qualified ride in the round. Canada’s Tanner Byrne was the other, taking it to Heat Seeker for 84.5 points to claim second place and earn 90 points for the finish.

Reigning PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney got shafted in 3.71 seconds by Shaft (E-J Bucking Bulls, LLC/ Gene Owen) in the 15/15 round.

All of the action and excitement from this special round of competition, which features the Top 15 PBR bull riders and the Top 15 bulls going head to head, will air on CBS Television Network at noon ET  on Saturday, Jan.16.

With a score of 87 points, Harris and Palermo topped the leaderboard after Round 1 in the Monster Energy Buck Off. This is Palermo’s first round win since the BFTS Billings, Montana, event in April 2015. Both men earned 100 world standings points.

Joao Ricardo Vieira put up 86.25 points on Flip Out (Rocking I Rodeo Co) to land in third place in the round and gain 60 world standings points, while Lachlan Richardson and Mason Lowe rounded out the Top 5 with scores of 85.75 and 85.5 points, respectively.  Richardson added 50 world points to his season total, and Lowe received 40 world points.

Mauney rode Blue Hurricane (Cornwell Bucking Bulls), Robson “Spiderman” Aragao rode Machinery Auctioneer’s Little Joe (Rocking I Rodeo Co) and Ryan Dirteater covered Magic (Viducic Bucking Bulls) for 85 points to tie for sixth place. Each received 10 world standings points for their efforts.

Round 2 of the Monster Energy Buck Off at the Garden takes place Saturday, Jan. 16 at 6:50 p.m ET. It will air on CBS Sports Network on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can also watch all of the action live on PBR LIVE at www.pbr.com.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
