LAS VEGAS – The historical Las Vegas Helldorado Days PRCA-sanctioned rodeo returned to the famed Las Vegas Strip May 11-14 showcasing top rodeo athletes and fierce competition in all rodeo disciplines – bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

Helldorado Days has been a Las Vegas staple since 1934, celebrating the city’s western heritage and entertaining countless fans over the years. This year the time-honored festival again took place at the Las Vegas Village, across from the Luxor Hotel & Casino, and featured four action-packed days of events. Among the events were a PRCA rodeo; PBR’s Last Cowboy Standing, one of the sport’s four “Major” events; carnival rides, a petting zoo, pig races, camel rides and games for the entire family; the one-and-only Whiskerino mustache and beard-growing contest; mouth-watering foods; plus live music and the first-ever Las Vegas Helldorado Days Brewfest- a Motley Brews experience treating guests to blends from more than 40 breweries.

Sunday evening was the third and final performance of the Helldorado Days Rodeo, the winners were determined from the best performance in each event from one of the three days of competition.

The bareback riding saw an 84.5-point score tie for first place between Buck Lunak (Cut Bank, Montana) and Clayton Biglow (Clements, California). Both riders will go home with $2,550 respectively.

The competition in the steer wrestling event was at an all-time high, seeing a four-way split for first place including the hometown cowboy Dakota Eldridge (Elko, Nevada). Eldridge, Jarret New (Wimberley, Texas), Chance Howard (Cedarville, Arkansas) and Ty Erickson (Helena, Montana) all recorded a 6-second time and walked away with $1,878 each.

Team roping duo J.T. Taylor (Banning, California) and Josh Reed (Cherry Valley, California) stopped the clock with a 4.8-second time, beating out the competition and winning the team a total of $3,971,

New Mexico native Leon Fountain (Socorro, New Mexico) out-rode his fellow saddle bronc athletes by half a point, and topped out with a 85.5 score, earning $2,887.

Setting an event record with a 7.4-second time, 23-time world champion and 13- time PRCA All-Around Cowboy World Champion Trevor Brazile (Decatur, Texas) leaves Las Vegas with a first place win in the tie-down roping and $2,832.

Tillar Murray (Fort Worth, Texas) took the win in the women’s barrel racing by fractions of a second as she raced toward a 14.54-second clock time for a $2,722 check.

Roscoe Jarboe (New Plymouth, Idaho) ended the weekend in first place overall in the bull riding. Jarboe leaves Las Vegas sporting an 86-point ride and $3,243.

After competing in both the tie-down roping and the team roping Jordan Ketscher (Squaw Valley, California) ended his weekend by receiving the All-Around Cowboy nod and a $4,189 check.

The Sunday performance officially closed the Helldorado Days weekend festivities.
