Jesse Stahl has his Day

One of the great bronc riders of the day, Jesse Stahl, an African-American, seldom finished first because of his skin color. At an earlier rodeo, Stahl second place after he clearly outperformed the winning rider. Stahl responded by again riding his bronc, while sitting backwards. He would repeat this stunt at rodeos around the country, including the Reno Rodeo.

100 Years of Reno Rodeo is a montage of the fascinating people & history leading up to the centennial celebration of the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West”; the Reno Rodeo – June 20-29, 2019.
