Jones Victorious in Albuquerque

Ben Jones became the first rider to conquer Beaver Creek Beau on the Built Ford Tough Series, riding the bull in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round for 90.25 points to cap a 3-for-4 and win the Ty Murray Invitational, presented by Sandia Resort & Casino, brought to you locally by Sonic.

The championship round capped a solid day of riding for Jones, who rode White Lie in Round 3 for 87.5 points. Jones finished third in Round 3 to earn 50 points, plus 100 points in the championship round, and 400 points for winning the event aggregate. All totaled, Jones took home 550 event points in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and climbed to No. 8 in the world standings.

In the event race, Jones was followed by Brazilian rider Joao Ricardo Vieiera, who finished with a total of 310 event points. Vieira was the only other rider besides Jones to notch a qualified ride in the championship round, covering Walk Off for 88 points to earn 60 world standings points. Vieira finished second in the event aggregate for 240 world standings points. Vieira leaves Albuquerque in second place, just 385 points behind world standings leader Matt Triplett, who tore the MCL and PCL in his knee during Round 2 action on Saturday night.

The high-marked bull of the event was Percolator, who dispatched Stormy Wing during the championship round in 4.54 seconds to earn a bull score of 46.

The Built Ford Tough Series heads to the Pacific Northwest next weekend for the Seattle Invitational, which will take place at KeyArena on March 27 and 28.
