Quaresima and Barbosa Split Round 1 Win in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.V. – At the second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour event of the 2018 season in Huntington, West Virginia, Junio Quaresima (Meridiano, Brazil) and Rubens Barbosa (Iaciara, Brazil) tied for the Round 1 win of the Huntington Invitational inside Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Recording matching 87-point scores, Quaresima brought the crowd to its feet as the first man out of the chutes covering All The Way Up (Barker/Barnett #1), while Barbosa, riding in the final section, capped the event on a high note when he made the 8 aboard Mighty Mike (Jerilyns Elite Buckin’ Bulls).

For the round win, each rider collected a check for $700.

In another tie, Cannon Craves (Porum, Oklahoma) and Juan Carlos Contreras (Huichapan, Mexico) split third, each earning $300. Both riders delivered 85.5-point rides, going the distance aboard Get Smoked (Phenom/JCL/Swalin/Good #1) and Red Cloud (Silent 7 Bucking Stock), respectively.

Lindomar Lino (Anapolis, Brazil) finished fifth after he was marked 83.5 points on Hood Rat (UTC/Sellers Bucking Bulls).

Collectively, 11 riders recorded scores on the first night of the event.

Michael Lane (Tazewell, Virginia) and Jake Gowdy (Bristow, Oklahoma) are currently tied for sixth after covering their first bulls of the two-day event for 83 points, while Cody Rodeo Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma) and Carlos Garcia (Hammondsport, New York) are splitting eighth with 82.5-point rides.

The Huntington Invitational continues Saturday, September 29 at Big Sandy Superstore Arena at 7:00 p.m ET. The top riders on the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will all get on more bull before the Top-10 in the event move onto the championship round.

Fans will be able to watch all the Round 1 action from Huntington beginning tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. ET on Ridepass.com and the RidePass mobile app.
