TOWNSVILLE, AUSTRALIA – Coming off the back of his first international competition at the Global Cup in Edmonton, Alberta, Aaron Kleier went 3-for-5 to win PBR Australia’s Iron Cowboy event.

Living up to the name, Townsville’s Iron Cowboy produced a tough weekend of competition. Only seven qualified rides on Friday night left a lot of riders with the opportunity to start fresh on Saturday and get their names on the scoreboard.

Gustavo Pedrero was the leader after night one, covering Troubled Soul for 86.25 points. Kleier was right on his heels with 85.5 points.

Thor Hoefer picked up the Round 3 win covering Just Right for 84.75 points, while Kurt Shephard took home the Round 4 victory by posting 86.5 points on Bad Booger.

Heading into the championship round, Kleier was the only rider with three qualified rides.

However, Lachlan Richardson put the pressure on when we rode King Kong for 87.75 points.

Matched up against Un Broken, Kleier’s name was added to the growing list of unlucky cowboys hitting the dirt off the back of this still unridden superstar.

As always, Queensland’s best stock contractors produced a rank pen of bulls, with some spectator bulls scores seen over the weekend. The Brandenburg father-daughter duo had the highest bull score over the two days – Un Broken 45pts.

The crowd was also treated to the news that the PBR Australia National Finals would be relocating to Townsville in 2018, with tickets going on sale in December through www.tecc.net.au .
