BELT, Mont. — In its first year sanctioned by the Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Division, the committee of the Dusty Gliko Bull Riding Challenge outdid themselves.

There was the “Dirty Dozen” gun draw, the beer was cold, Dave Whitmoyer was hilarious, the stands couldn’t be more full and North Dakota cowboy Stetson Lawrence made them cheer by capping off the night by riding bounty bull Chocolate Thunder for 91 points to earn a $1,000 bonus.

Lawrence finished the evening by earning over $5,500.

“It was just for fun more than anything. I liked him. I’ve been riding good, thank god for keeping me safe and everything else,” said Lawrence. “That’s one of the better rides I’ve made. That bull bucked me off a couple years ago, it was nice to get back at him. I’m just on a roll, hopefully it keeps going. I don’t know I’m just blessed, actually, it’s awesome.”

Chocolate Thunder has been in the championship round of the Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas. It’s not often the black horned bull gets rode. Hats are off to Lawrence as he’s been winning a ton as of late. Last night’s event win was his third in four weeks. He may be the hottest man on the PBR’s Touring Pro Division currently.

“If you want to call it that. I don’t really like to brag too much about myself,” Lawrence said modestly. “I just ride my bull for what it is and just keep going, that’s about all I can do I guess.

“That short-round bull (You’re a Daisy If You Do) I got on in Tonasket, Washington, last weekend and he got me there. I figured him out and tonight I just made a nice solid ride on him.”

Washington bull rider Dakota Beck finished in second and fourth due to both his rides in the long go: an 88-point performance aboard Super 8 and an 87-point ride on SOB.

PBR Built Ford Tough Series regular Guytin Tsosie earned 87.5 points on Brindle Beater to finish the event in third place. Tsosie came down early on Donoardo in the championship round.

Rounding out the Top-5 was Idaho bull rider Brady Oleson who scored 85.5 points on Coal Train.
