Lockwood Wins Night One in Bismarck

Jess Lockwood picked up 80 points towards the world standings with his win Friday.
BISMARCK, N.D. – With the highest score of the night, Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) conquered Crossfire (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve) in the championship round at the Dakota Community Bank & Trust: PBR (Professional Bull Riders) BlueDEF Tour (BDT) Challenge for 92 points. It’s the first 90-point ride for Lockwood this season in any event.
It’s the 18-year-old Lockwood’s second BDT win of the season as he earned an important 80 points towards the PBR world standings along with $8,160.40. Lockwood now sits 15th in the world rankings. Crossfire, the high marked bull of the night, has only been ridden twice now in 12 outs this season.
Tyler Harr (Hazen, Arkansas) won Round 1 during the first night of the event at the Bismarck Event Center to finish in second place with an 88.5-point ride atop Strong Heart (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve). Harr earned an important 50 points towards the world standings.
Brant Atwood (Decatur, Texas) was the third place finisher after an 88-point ride on Sunday Funday (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve). Atwood tallied 30 points towards the PBR world standings.
2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) earned 87.5 points aboard Red Head Fred (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve) and finished in fourth place while Dakota Louis (Browning, Montana) rode Americana (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve) for 86.5 points to finish in fifth place. Lee earned 20 world standings points while Louis earned 15 points.
Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) rode Big Enough (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve) for an 85.5-point score which was good enough for sixth place and 10 PBR world standings points.
The BlueDEF Tour will be in action again in Bismark Saturday night for Night Two at the Dakota Community Bank & Trust PBR Bull Riding Challenge.
