SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Mason Lowe came out on top in Round 2 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) PFI Invitational, presented by Bass Pro Shops and brought to you locally by Sonic, Saturday night at JQH Arena.
The Exeter, Missouri, rookie picked up 88.5 points on Pushing Pills(McConnell’s Bucking Cattle), a bull he mentioned is from “right up the road,” for 100 points toward the PBR world standings.
“I didn’t want to come here and get shut out by no means,” Lowe said about riding in front of a hometown crowd, “and to win a round – it was awesome.”
Gage Gay placed second in the round after covering Money Maker (Lonesome Dove Farm) for 87.5 points, earning himself 60 world points for the finish.
Matt Triplett earned third place and 50 points towards his world standings total with an 86.75-point effort atop Comfortably Numb (Bailey Pro Rodeo).
Cody Nance placed fourth for 40 points towards the world standings with 86.5 points on his re-ride bull Spitball.
Brady Sims, another Missouri native, and Robson Palermo tied for fifth place with 86.25 points apiece on Gigolo Beau (Rafter HB Cattle/Jenkins Cattle) and Fire Rock (Jeff Robinson/TNT Bucking Bulls), respectively, to pick up 15 world points each.
At 2-for-2 so far this weekend, Sims enters Sunday’s Round 3 as the leader of the PFI Invitational.
Round 2 was also an ABBI (American Bucking Bull Inc.) Maturity competition (for bulls age 5 and older) which paid out over $32,000 during Saturday night’s event. American Hustle was the winner with an average score of 88.33 points, followed by Moe Bandy with 88.17 points. In third place with 87.83 points was Shoot Out The Lights.
American Hustle earned a check worth $10,650 for owners LeFlore and D&H Cattle Co.
Round 3 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the PFI Invitational presented by Bass Pro Shops and brought to you locally Sonic, takes place Sunday, Sept. 13, at 4:50 p.m. CT. Springfield is the 23rd stop on the 2015 Built Ford Tough Series. The season will culminate with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25 when the 2015 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2015 season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.
