Lowe Wins Ty Murray Invitational

ALBUQUREQUE, N.M. – 22-year-old Mason Lowe had never won a Built Ford Tough Series event since breaking onto the tour in 2015, but he made a statement by earning his first win at the 20^th Ty Murray Invitational, presented by Sandia Resort and Casino, Sunday afternoon at WisePies Arena, aka The Pit.

Lowe went 3-for-4 and closed out the weekend with a 90-point ride of Brutus in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, one of two 90-point rides in the final round. Lowe picked up 600 points toward the world standings and leaves Albuquerque as the 10^th ranked bull rider in the world.

Stetson Lawrence (3-for-4) finished in second with 315 world points. Lawrence had ridden his first three bulls in Albuquerque before being bucked off by SweetPro’s Bruiser in 2.9 seconds.

Brazilian Eduardo Aparecido walked away with third place and 280 world standings points. Aparecido went 3-for-4 as well, and turned in an 88.5-point ride aboard Little Red Jacket to close out his weekend. He leaves Albuquerque No. 8 in the world standings.

Reigning PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney and Cooper Davis split fourth and fifth place, both earning 265 points in the world standings.

Mauney, who had won the first two rounds this weekend, was a perfect 3-for-3 heading into the championship round where he faced off against the reigning World Champion Bull SweetPro’s Long John. Long John won the matchup, bucking off Mauney in 7.56 seconds for a 46.75-point bull score to earn the NationLease High-Marked Bull award.

Davis, meanwhile, finished up his 2-for-4 weekend with an electrifying 91.5-point ride of Crossfire, the highest-scored ride of the weekend.

Reese Cates won Round 3 on Sunday afternoon with a 88.75-point ride on Hammer It Again. Cates finished eighth overall after being bucked off by Boot Jack in the championship round.

The PBR will next buck into Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for the First Premier Bank/Premier Bankcard Invitational April 1-3 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
